Metaxi
The story behind the name
Metaxi means silk - the matter that flows without breaking. One thread, one motion.
Penelope paints the way silk is woven: with one continuous, unbroken motion that keeps the hand in contact with the canvas. Each work begins from a single stroke and unwinds from there, like a ribbon.
Her colours - deep aubergine, antique gold, olive - carry the memory of place. Chalkidiki, the light off the sea, the weave of linen and the warmth of gold leaf.
The thread is not only inside the painting. It is also the bond made between the work and the person looking at it. That is the thread we invite you to follow.
